Perhaps because it is one of the early Soundblaster 8-bit models?

Soundblaster 2.0 (CT1350B) is more common.

Nevertheless it is not the first Soundblaster and it seems overpriced to me , too.

I've seen these cards go for around €20 so I guess that's what they are "worth" in general so the winner of this auction must have been desperate or there was a bunch of people with high snipe bid that has now crapped in their pants

I've got my CT1320A, B C etc cards for €10-15, during the past 3-4 years

I didn't even pay that much for my boxed ct1320C version. For the B version I paid 25 dollars. Still have to find myself an A version, but they don't come by very often unfortunately.. 😀

I only got 1, pulled from some old computer myself yeeaars ago. Not even sure if it'll work 🤣!

Edit:mines also a B

Edit2:I'll need to correct myself, mine is a 1350, not a 1320.

When I first saw the word "so expensive" in this thread, I thought the price was in the hundreds. But the GBP does put more than the required value on it. Someone wanted it badly. Or perhaps he had a good experience with this model.

I was going to say the same thing. Most of the Soundblasters you see for sale are 16 bit cards. If you have an older motherboard with nothing but 8-bit slots then you need one of the 8 bit ones. (Coincidentally, just today I dug out a board from the bottom of a box with all 8 bit slots and a NEC V20 chip on it. I still can't figure out how I got it.)

Soundblaster Pro should work in an 8-bit slot if you neither use IRQs > 7 nor DMA 0.

I've been hearing for a long time that some 16 bit cards will work in an 8 bit slot but was never able to confirm it.

Soundblaster Pro has a 16-bit bus connector but is not a 16-bit card. On the component side the 16-bit ISA extension is completely blank which means it doesn't use the 'upper' eight bits. The pads on the back side are for DMA0 and IRQs > 7.

I believe these are sought after, because you can upgrade them to Gameblaster. I got one and paid a similar price, for me I get 2 cards in one hit. Authentic OPL2 sound and Gameblaster. The later 2.0 are difficult to upgrade to Gameblaster as you need a third chip which nobody seems to have...

The shipping fee in this auction was also very low, so that can also explain a higher price for the item. It's no use of the items sells for 20 quid just to be charged 25 for postage...

SB 1.0 are even harder to find and the cards are even longer I believe...

I haven't seen a 2.0 with all 3 chips yet. Would love to have one one day and also a real Gameblaster card.

See my signature "sound"stuff" 😀

I bought a cm/s enabled sb 2.0 on the dutch "Marktplaats.nl" for 5 euros about half a year ago or so.
Later I found a boxed 3-chips version CMS kit on eBay which i snagged for only 2 euros (ok, about 7 or 8 with shipping costs). Also see the sound stuff section.

Wow that's awesome...

Australian second hand market is crap. They throw everything out...

I guess I just need to be patient with ebay, I am sure they come up one day...

As the chips will unlikely ever fail, would you sell one 3 chip pack?

EDIT: Awesome collection. You must have been doing this for quite some time...

Check out what these guys ask for their cards:

Same situation here in Sweden, if it's 10 years or older it get's thrown in the trash or goes directly to the recycling center 😜
