What is it you want to capture?

It really depends on what you intend to capture. If all you intend to do is capture a small part of the screen, or capture from another device, then you can get away with using VirtualDub's capture features.

For full-screen stuff I'm not sure because the only full-screen gameplay I ever capture is from DOSBox, and DOSBox has its own built in video capture features.
