Anyone else think it's fantastic?

I was browsing youtube when I stumbled upon an old game I used to play as a kid, Batman for the NES. I listened to a couple songs of the OST and it sure brings back memories!
I listened to this track:

Man, it's FULL of energy!

Anyone else have some great game soundtracks to share?

Batman...wow that was one tough game!

Wow, where to start?
I love video game music, anything from ambient Riven like soundtracks that really puts you in another world to techno music.

If I had to list a few favorites I would definitely forget a lot of them, but I'll try!

The Castlevania series have always had amazing music, but my favorite was on Symphony of the Night (also the greatest Castlevania in my opinion). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8jkyKXYvTY&feature=related

Chrono Trigger on the SNES also had amazing music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIO1sajyx_o

Jazz Jackrabbit 1,2 & 3 (yep the music was fantastic on this unreleased game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cO4SxcqXfI, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAoHCImmljU

MDK 1 & 2 (the first one had an epic feeling to it, while the 2nd one was mostly techno, worlds apart) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4XP4DZVRG0 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7UzgvogWiI

MegaDrive Sonic platform games (yes all of them) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LYB7iLZNWE, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPYzgCI6Q1I

The Diablo games (there's really only one tune that really makes me list these) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2evIg-aYw8

Legacy of Kain series (especially Soul Reaver 1 and 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e54tu2XGfGU , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0-Zdq0JXpI

Fallout 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtB8bL6NAL4

Need For Speed 2 & 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8CEJTPECxc (I just love this one, so many memories...) , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82eC27KImEo&feature=related

Rayman 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-jGmCHsOgU

Monkey Island series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKWT5wW4gdY

System Shock 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17FAFpmNIWA&feature=related

Lollypop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRbP8aNkJHo

And probably a ton of others that I can't remember right now.
Hope you enjoy!

It may sound funny, but this is all I listen to at work. The proxy here blocks internet radios, but amazingly youtube works fine. So I listen to all and any game soundtracks I can find. Still makes me kinda feel like I'm playing the game (or at least makes me remember playing that game when I could). Because at the end of the day, I still have to go home to wife and kids and responsibilities and not having the time to play anything ;P

This guy has a lot of soundtracks: http://www.youtube.com/user/ultddave#g/p

My favorite game soundtracks:

BlueByte Software's "Extreme Assault" (composed by Chris Huelsbeck)... one of the best orchestral game soundtracks, hands down! 😀

Heh, back when the game first hit the store shelves, I didn't have a PC fast enough to run it. I had downloaded the demo of the game, which shipped with MIDI files of the soundtrack, and was extremely impressed.

I then had read that the retail CDROM included Redbook Audio tracks of the music... so I bought the game; JUST FOR THE MUSIC, as I didn't have a fast enough PC at the time to run the game smoothly <grin> 😀

Epic Megagames' "One Must Fall 2097"... excellent stuff, especially the main-menu tune 😀 BTW, Kenny "C.C.Catch" Chou recently released a remix of the mani-menu tune on YouTube (I mean really recent, within the past few months or so)... but I'll be damned if I can find a link to it right now 🙁

Duke Nukem 3D's title theme music "Grabbag"... the extended version of the "Atomic" CD is even better 😀

The music from "Transport Tycoon Deluxe" (composed by John Broomhall)... superb 😀

The soundtrack from "Warcraft 1" and "Warcraft 2"... love that style 😀

The music from "Bejeweled 3"; GREAT STUFF (as well as "Bejeweled Twist" and "Bejeweled 2")... GO SKAVEN! BTW, BJ3 has one of the PRETTIEST sounding tunes in a PC game that I've ever heard... the theme song used for the "Butterflies" game mode of the game -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF06618niOE LOVE IT! 😀

The tunes from Epic Megagames' "Epic Pinball" and "Extreme Pinball".

Of notable mention:

The main menu tune from "Insaniquarium Deluxe"; the music from "Micro Machines 2" (PC version), "Death Rally", and "Unreal".

BTW, I've never been into the handheld or the console "thang", but recently discovered the OST from "Shadow of the Colossus - Roar of the Earth"... WOW! 😀

There's way too many awesome game tunes to really go into from my perspective, both in old games and in modern games, but I'll mention a few of my favourites.

Batman on the NES, along with virtually every good and bad game made by Sunsoft had some of the best music on the system because they put very percussive drum and bass effects on the single digital sound channel supported by the system.

The Castlevania series itself, across multiple systems has some incredibly energized music considering the nature of those games, and is perhaps the only reason I have any interest in them as I'm more fond of the music in those games than the gameplay. ;D

One Must Fall 2097 had some awesome music for the time considering it was all digitally tracked. (I actually have the original soundtrack files, can't remember how I obtained them.) But I must also mention that its sequel, OMF Battlegrounds, despite not being too great a game had a dynamic digital music system that would actually run into different parts of a tune depending on the overall feel of the current game.

The Mega Man series has always been hit and miss, with lots of great tunes but lots of lousy ones too. Mega Man 2 and 3 are nothing BUT great music, (the title sequence for 3, rarely listened to for its entirety, is actually really long and fun), and the music for Mega Man Battle Network on the GBA is actually very catchy overall.

Many of the Final Fantasy games have great music too, with my favourites for music being IV, VI, VII and VIII. (FF4 is actually my most favourite RPG of all time, followed by Dragon Quest II.)

In terms of modern games, much of my favourite music is coming out of Nintendo, especially considering how a lot of 3rd-party companies aren't developing their own music for their games anymore. Super Mario Galaxy and the Super Smash Bros. games really hit the mark, not only with original tunes but with remixes of old tunes as well.

Since I grew up with video game music, not traditional lyrical music, I learned to beatbox early on, so to me, the mark of a good game tune is if I can sing the entire thing and actually have fun doing so. ;)

You know, I never tried OMFBG. Was the music Tracked (like in the original), or in another format?

I also really liked the Dune 2000 soundtrack.
When I build my Super 7 rig I played Unreal basically because of the music!
One of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLDtguqFRIE The Dig

If anyone has a favorite tune, by all means include links so I can listen to them! 😉

Motorhead (PC Version), Red Book audio on CD-ROM:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU6m053y8e0&fe … =related&fmt=18 (1st half)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXrUOcvwvLE&fe … &list=UL&fmt=18 (2nd half)

Note that there is a mismatch here between what MuGuFuTsu refers to as the titles and how they show up in Gracenote (Atlantika and Nolby Hills).

I would also list the Independence War (Kevin Seville ?) and Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos (Chris Mann) soundtracks:
