This character seems to sell virtually nothing under $100. Don't get me wrong, he has some interesting items... but he's certainly shooting for the moon. More power to him, I guess.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/compused_ca/m.html?_n … =1&_ipg=&_from=

...including an $18,500 collection of software: 😲
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-assortment-hundr … s-/172214023609

or $145 for a very ordinary, used S3 Virge PCI card...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/S3-verge-DX-Video-PCI … g-/182140215340

Good luck to the guy. Though, he's not doing eBay's reputation any favors.

Why does everyone seem to think that Super Socket 7 boards can be marked up like you're dealing in controlled substances?

What's with all the rage? Just because someone lists it for crazy cash doesn't mean anyone has to buy it at that price - these aren't life giving medicinals we're talking about here. So it sits there, and maybe people see it and list theirs for crazy money but again, theirs will sit there until the price drops to a reasonable amount. Supply and demand yo.

Speaking for myself, I'm not mad. I'm a little confused and more than a little amused. Between the seller and the hypothetical buyer, it's like a race to see who's stupidest. The winner gets the motherboard.

it's basic supply and demand.. list something at a higher price.. may seem unreasonable today, but what about 2 years from now when it's the only one of it's kind left for sale and there's no other option.. then someone might buy it. We can set ebay listings to run forever / indefinitely for free if it doesn't sell without ever paying a penny.

Not to mention, a lot of times when stuff in listing like this don't sell it gets scrapped or trashed.

Yeah half of this stuff is listed by dedicated recyclers who see something they would have otherwise scrapped for 50 cents worth of metals, list it for top dollar for a month or two to see if it sells, and then scraps it anyways if it doesn't. Idk, it would seem to me to be more profitable to just lower the price to the bare minnimum to make say 20 percent profit after shipping + fees. 20 percent is a reasonable gain, 200 percent is scalping. End of story.

There are also the asshats who buy up all cheap stock of an item, and then list them all at the same high price to quickly artifically inflate the price. An example of this would be someone buying all the copys of a vintage game, and then immidiatly relisting them at 3x the original price. Now everyone else who lists there is going to see there price and think thats what its worth which leads to them listing at the same price. Blam! Artificial price inflation.

Then again there are also complete idiots on eBay who list AGP cards (Expensive) at the price of the PCIe version of it (Cheaper) because they are incapable of telling the difference between the different slot types. So we can't really say the price gouging effect of eBay doesn't also work in reverse on occasion?

The main reason nobody can get a good deal on eBay is people that get notifications everytime something along a certain line of search is listed and eBay bots that are set to buy up items with a specific (usually extremely) low price point that match certain very strict keywords (E.G. a bot that buys everything titled "Rage Fury Maxx" thats listed under 10 dollars). eBay in my opinion has gone down hill as a place to win auctions since the smartphone became common. Now instead of having to be offwork, and at a PC to bid, you can just take out your phone and place your bid from anywhere in the world. Have a high latency connection? Forget about winning. This sucks for me in particular because I live in a rural area in a county that claims all electronic scrap (so i cant buy from our recycling centers because "All Electronics are Property of the County" and I can never find local deals so Im forced to use eBay (or Amibay or VCFED which are quickly becoming as bad as eBay, except atleast usually people know what the hell there even talking about) if i want something for a build,

@ last 2 posts - what are you kids basing this nonsense on? So it's the scrapers? And then of course there's the asshats buying up "all cheap stock of an item", and the complete idiots who list things incorrectly, and don't forget those evil geniuses using their phones to snatch away all your bargains. The whole world is conspiring against you getting your vintage hardware at the prices you deem acceptable - sounds like loser talk to me!

I waited 3 years to find my AthlonXP-for-msdos computer motherboard at an affordable price. I waited all these years from new until just last month to get a GTX-580 at an affordable price.

Just be patient young padawan, things will come in due time if you wait and find it later.

That's what I said to my self a couple of years ago when the Pentium Pro Overdrives were plentiful but costing $40 each...

On the other hand I thought the same about the 83 MHz PODs and a year ago I found as many of those as I will ever need for cheap.

That. How many of our wares will be trashed when we die (no matter if we leave instructions behind). I'm trying to build some appreciation amongst my loved ones. Then may be some of it will be enjoyed in the future.

Back on topic, with patience and luck you'll be able to obtain what you're looking for. Typically you'll find it when you're not looking for it.

^ wow ^

An electron tube on its own has a flat frequency response from 0Hz to many MHz. The surrounding components restrict this and

limit the magic of music in other ways too

. This is possibly the first amplifier on earth using 2 electron tubes and no other component.

🤣

I can make one of those for next to nothing. And I might too. then flood ebay with them. haha 😈
Well I don't like the looks of that amp, what happens when a tube shorts out or blows? but I bet you there very cheap to make.

Some random "Hayes" 56k ISA modem for US $345.77 😲

What was this thing in, the president's personal home computer back in the 90s? 🤣 🤣

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hayes-09-00459-4-Inte … %3D192079615570

I guess since it's marked "industrial" it justifies selling a modem for over $300...
