Seriously dude, what is wrong with you? Every single post you put attacks people on eBay that sell items for prices that you do not like or for reasons you do not like. Just because someone sells an 5170 for $800 does not qualify them as nasty and definitely should not be banned from eBay. We live in a free market society and we need to keep it that way. You really need to tone down your rhetoric. You are way too aggressive.

While that unit is expensive and looks really bad from outside the inside pictures seem actually very clean. And the unit comes loaded with cards. Considering 5170s are around $150-$250, this is not an auction that is worth 10 cents and someone is asking $1000. It is expensive but not THAT expensive.

Well, considering that the PC is loaded with cards, including a VGA card, that's a pretty good price, expensive, but, not that expensive. The only concerns are the floppy drives not working, as well as the HDD that it comes with.

Maybe he just has a Radical Vision about these sorts of things?

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

How much of it works though? He's selling it as-is, which is often code for "I know it's broken, but if I feign ignorance I can palm it off on some optimistic sucker and then rely on my claimed ignorance to get out of issuing a refund".

That's nothing, this old apple sold for over 56k

You clearly don't know what that computer is 🤣

It's the original Apple Lisa model 1 with the Twiggy drives, which were so horribly unstable Apple offered free upgrades to the Lisa 2 with the Sony 400k drive. All you had to do was send your Lisa 1 back to Apple, which promptly destroyed all returns...

I believe 20 or so? Twiggy Lisa 1 computers exist anymore, so I'd say it's something more than "this old apple."

I know exactly what that system is. I believe you do not. Its a Frankenstein. its not factory, but built from parts.

Wait, what? 😲 I haven't heard this. How so?

I didn't post the price the person on eBay that's selling the IBM PC AT 5170, luckily. The person just wants the money since the fees on eBay are ridiculous nowadays. Even if the system looks worse on the outside, the inside is in pretty good shape and clean, on the other hand. I was bidding on one that was in better cosmetic shape, but had a video card problem and no HDD (security reasons) and I cancelled my bids since it was going up way too much. Plus, the PC AT 5170 only came with the CGA/Monochrome card and the one that's on eBay right now has a VGA card (maybe a 512KB VGA card) in it, which is rare to see something like that in an older system like that. IBM was way ahead of the business empire with VGA support since the IBM PC XT 5160 or 5150 models.

This was a fun thread while it lasted, but seeing trolls and idjits trying to make a big controversy about the ludicrous prices on eBay makes this thread lose its value, like an old car with aftermarket parts or selling it more than what it's worth (dents, scratches, rust, and so on).

They took a later lisa and put the twiggy parts in it. Or so that's what a few folks on anther computer forum were saying.

There is another latter Lisa on eBay right now with all the stickers removed and a older cpu that's listed as a prototype for like $100k.

I saw a PSU for an IBM 9577 (PS/2 Model 77 circa 1994) brand new (no box) for $225 OBO on eBay, but free shipping, though. I can understand, though, as those PSUs are hard to find these days.

Also, a Factory error Commodore 64 for $767.77 USD, and iMac G3/233 for $8,800 USD NIOB (New in open box). The C64 is original, but very rare since the serial number listed on both the box and unit are 1 number off. As for the iMac, that was never used, and everything's sealed.

Another IBM PC AT 5170 in better shape than the other one, as well as cleaned, new battery, and tested by the seller.

Yes i do, when they are sell things that look like junk, rust, bad pictures like he is from some cave or something, and the price is still high.......
When i sell old hardware i make quality pictures, and i clean the damn thing, and even i put very informative info about the part im selling, that is called quality, not like im selling some junk like most moron ebay sellers are doing...
I have seen many IBM Model M or other similar, and they wast like 100-150$ for f**king dirty keyboard like was pulled out of the s**ts, bad pictures as well, missing parts like the cable or buttons/caps.... If that is normal for someone like you or others no comment....... 😵 😵 😵 😵 😵 😵 😵 😵
Also what is wrong with the sellers on ebay and other sites, are they pigs, seems they are not the normal one, not me, but if you can`t see that 🤣 you have problem...
