A fix for the newer revisions has been found. See here:

Now if I could only figure out what is wrong with my v1.06 P5A.

Last ATX 1.04 one was probably snatched by me few months earlier.

I'm not sure if a "computerized cassette player" is worth a thousand bucks.
Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....
Say no to online installer.

Are the CHIPS Super 386 chips really worth nearly $200 USD?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/CHIPS-Super-38 ... fresh=true
Does anyone have a motherboard which works with these?

Not worth $200, at least in my opinion.. but 33 mhz was 'standard' for 386's after a quick browse on cpu-world.com vintage section. Some manufacturers even had 386 chips up to 40 Mhz and 50 Mhz as a normal chip too, and then I saw an upgrade module for 66 mhz. So chips 33 mhz 386 chip should, in theory, work in any 386 motherboard.

From wiki,

Code: Select all
C&T also designed a 386-compatible microprocessor known as the Super386 38600DX/38600SX using clean room design techniques, but this chip never enjoyed as much success as the 386 CPUs produced by Intel, AMD, and Cyrix. C&T 38605DX had 512 byte cache, but the 144 pin PGA package was incompatible with 386 socket.

I was asking because, according to wiki, the Super 386 had a non-standard pin package and was incompatible with PGA-132 motherboards. Does anybody have a motherboard which will work with the Super386?

-THAT- I did not know. I didn't realize it was any different from any other chip, sorry. Maybe it is worth $200 then because it's more rare/uncommon vs the standard fare 386 chips? I don't know.

For my interests, you need to be able to use and tests rare chips for them to be of any interest. So I was wondering if the buyer was someone who has a motherboard for it, or is one of those die hard CPU collectors.

I asked the seller if it's the retail packaging, and they came back:

New message from: dj-typhoon_l45 (5)
It comes with all its accessories.

So at least there's that. I still think the price is way off.. guess we'll see with time if they never sell it.

I disagree. I think a Cheeto gun is an incredibly rare find. They are fully legal because they are semi-crunchomatic.
