It looks like someone really really wants it for some legacy hardware.
Somebody needing a system with long ISA data acquisition cards that also wants a warranty would buy that (businesses).
Collector of old computers, hardware, and software
I just had to post this cause of the description. 🤣

"Vintage Sperry Computer Model 3070-08 Pre 1980s this has to be a early 8088 or 286 computer it looks pretty complete there might be one card missing controller for hard drive? Yes, it's one of those rare 286s that FDR used to help George Washington fight off Charlemagne in 1874. 🤣

80286 before the 80s? He obviously has a time machine 🤣.

Old machining (CNC) tools requiring ISA control cards would be one possibility why such system is still valued today. Occasionally a WTB thread in a local forum would come up asking for old computers with ISA.

🤣 That description will justify at least three more digits in the price!

But $700 is a little outlandish - no?
I've seen machines sold WITH CNC control hardware/software installed in them for less than that in the past... 🙄 Methinks it's more likely just someone trying to capitalize on "retro mania" - just like how Apple IIs actually have resale value today, whereas a decade ago you usually couldn't give one away.
And on-topic:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/221495878475
For those that don't "get it" - it doesn't include the actual limited edition card, and he wants higher than the package was selling brand new for with the actual limited edition card... 🤣

Not sure about that, I mean that rig doesn't really have anything special apart from "ISA slots & serial port" (two most asked features for such legacy systems). Btw I've just looked at the seller's other items -- "capitalizing on legacy industrial needs" sounds more accurate . 😀

Old engineers are a bit funny. I recently helped a dude who designs audio equipment, he had some ISA analyzer card that he couldnt get rid of.
I was offering all the advice on how to set up a computer to run it, even offered to build it for him if he paid for the parts... he ended up buying a complete 486 system off ebay in Germany for about 200 euro, plus shipping to australia.
I have to wonder what the cost of upgrading to a modern system is, if it cost him over $500 to keep running the old one.
If you are squeamish, don't prod the beach rubble.
Not just engineers, but old people in general 😀
I have this lawyer (65 y/o) i help with SCSI devices. He bought an COMPUTER just to take the CD Drive in it 🤣
And not just once, but 3 times. He also ordered the CD-ROMs abroad. His motto is 4x burn is best burn 😀
Well people sometimes are so get used to specific equipment / way of working that they just don't want to change it. Even more if they get their work done even today.
Personally I continue to use the 2001 "PaintShop Pro 7.04" for my image manipulation needs, 13 years later and I still haven't found something better for me 🤣 🤣 🤣

I used PSP 7.04 for a long time until I switched to Photshop. That program is a real beauty. Small, fast, and powerful.

Modern AP analyzer is like $20k+ US iirc. 😊

Also doesn't look like a 9800XT, looks more like a 9500 Pro or 9550. To clarify: 9800XT has BGA RAM in an L-configuration, requires memory sinks, requires an external power connector, has a 256-bit memory interface, and is physically deeper than the AGP shoe. They're also generally 1.5V cards and the clocks that ad is reporting are totally wrong. 😵
