My brother works in China. Sometimes he wants to ftp stuff from and to HKG.
What he does so, we don't want to change ip everytime my PC boots up.
I know there is a solution called "private" network, only available to us, tunneling thru the internet But how do I set it up without getting a domain name? I want to say to let my brother start an application and starting down/uploading immediately.
Thanks
Jack

install a VPN server, problem solved
OpenVPN is the most popular free option, but it is NOT easy to setup at all... I spent half a day making it work!

there are commercial, *paid* solutions out there, but I haven't looked into it because I'm a cheap ass 😁

an FTP server will work, but it's limited and its traffic is not encrypted, which means the chinese government can see what you're doing

skydrive is not as 'secure' as MS would claim,

theres tales that "MS police" scan your uploaded stuff
and bann you if the content was deem as 'offensive' by MS,
even those files were marked private.

i'm suprised China-govt doesn't make its own 'skydrive' as it could be used as honeytrap to find anyone who against the communist party.

I mean, theres rumor that RIAA & MPAA already made such download/upload sites traps to find the 'pirates'.
