Ebay auctions cheap/special not for me, but maybe for you? [READ RULES]

Postby vetz » 2012-12-07 @ 04:20

Thought it could be interesting to open a new thread where people share Ebay auction links to items that you come over. I have many times been surfing Ebay and found rare or special items that I know someone else might find more interesting than me, or I've come over a good deal on an item I already own.

RULES:

1. IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO PROMOTE YOUR OWN AUCTIONS IN THIS THREAD!
2. NO TRADING OR SELLING IN THIS THREAD.

So my first link is:
Diamond MX-300 new sealed

Why not? In all fairness, the the thread starter did not promote his own ebay item; he merely shared information about an item he's not interested on, but someone else is. After all, many of us here are vintage hardware hunters, aren't we?

The only thing I regret about this thread is that I'm not fast enough to buy the said item. :dead:
Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

I dont see the problem either and I think its a great idea, when I bought a P2 Overdrive CPU that was listed as "US Only" postage I asked the seller anyway and he did ship it to me, another 2 australians bought the same CPU from the same seller from me posting my experience with that seller. WIN WIN

In all fairness, it is bound to happen that a new member posts in this thread and then there is no knowing if he doesn't promote his own stuff.

What if there were a blog where members could post eBay links (along with what the thing is, where it's located, international postage or no, and an ending time) for the benefit of the community?

I could host a quick-and-dirty Wordpress on VogonsDrivers...

That would be marvelous IMO. :)

I hope such links won't be prohibited though.

The idea is that the links wouldn't get posted on the forum. We'd just put a link to the blog in a sticky thread, and peeps can go there to see what's on offer.

Isn't it a bit too much to create an own blog for those ebay links just because a new member _might_ someday post a link to his own Ebay auction?

I can edit the first post and thread title to specifically say against not promoting own ebay auctions. I'm pretty sure that a very large majority will obey this.

Why does it matter so much that someone is promoting their own auctions? The reason they're doing that is because they know that you'd be interested and it can make selling a lot easier rather than having the hassle of putting it on eBay. I just don't get it.

look up the old thread but in short, Vogons should not become a trading ground.

It would be nice if we had a section where people could trade/sell stuff mano-a-mano. What harm would be done if there was a "Vogons Flea Market" wedged between "Megrathea" and "VDMsound"?

The mods don't want to end up arbitrating when things go sour.

This way, that burden is on eBay's shoulders.

I approve of this thread.

Thanks goes to m1919 for giving it to me, but if you want a NEW in box slot 2/1 mobo: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200863295872?ss ... 1423.l2649

Shipping is a bit high, but NIB is NIB after all.

Well if that's the case I understand. I would be nice though, if we could sell and trade with each other mano-a-mano. like the old SSAE days of yore. What happened?
