Having being my first time playing this strange game... I couldn't help but find the music to be awfully familiar sounding especially this particular track: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45822870/PLT201.ogg

Is this original music or is it a cover off of something already made?

Heh. Thinking of the Stones' 'Paint It Black' by any chance?

Oh damn I remember Paint it Black... it's been forever since I last heard that on the radio, no wonder this MIDI file sounds so familiar.

When I heard the cover, I cringed a bit. Cause that is a bad cover(in fact it is NOT a cover), not the midi in itself, but the chords are totally off. And that very much blows. But yeah, I would say it is a melody heavily inspired by the mentioned song. But not the real song. And for the record I have listened to midi versions of Paint It Black, and yeah I must admit. The melody is just heavily inspired by PIB. No I am not a musician, but I used to sing. So I know the difference in chords. But not which chord is which and so forth.

And the neverending problem with MIDI is, you'd usually have to listen to it on the module the composer used for it.

GeneralUserGS is the only good sounding compromise I ever use though I must admit even though this isn't a cover (I shouldn't of used that term) it's a very catchy song.

There's also another song that has a stereotypical riff to it and a interesting beat to it, it also sounds familiar to me for some reason.

Mate here you can actually hear the correct chords for PIB.

That is why I said the NAM melody was heavily inspired by the song Paint It Black. But it was not the same melody. Just like if we take the melody from the brilliant (old) game Outlaws, there the melody named The Last Gunfight

Is heavily inspired by the melody The Ecstacy of Gold made by Ennio Morricone.

Ah yeah I get what you mean WolverineDK.

This is another song that strikes me familiar: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45822870/PLT205.ogg

It also happens to have a hint of stereotype in it too.

What I am hearing in some ways is some kind of 80s synthesiser artist (Vangelis/Jarre/Hammer etc.) vibe going through it, perhaps a bit like the blade runner end theme. But yeah not exactly that melody.

Anyway I am off to bed, it is damn late/early here in Denmark.
