What are some? And I mean .mod and not .xm/.s3m/.it/.anythingelse.

A general search for a .mod will wind you with rather..... amiga/atari ST-sounding stuff and chiptunes 😀

I have a neat one here called "BEB.MOD". It's a rather faithful recreation of the 90s song "Dur dur d'être bébé!" by Jordy.

The notes in the sample descriptions indicates you need an Amiga with at least "1MB of chip memory" to play it, because there are "mega-samples at high sampling-freq".

Well, that's just mega-samples. Not exactly what I had in mind...

I'm thinking more in the line of 'use lots of channels, make the most out of patterns and exotic commands', kind of like this:

One of my favourite 4-channel MODs, plus it's not an over-sized samplefest! :3

Had a bit of a flick through my amassment, these ones sound pretty great for 4-track MODs.

Goddammit. I have never heard anything so obnoxious and catchy at the same time. That beat in the background is fucking awesome 🤣 .

Heh, Compulsion to Obey was one of the tracks I used in my Video Toaster demo video.

I put some of my favorite ProTracker MODs in as background music
00:12: Space Debris (from Pinball Dreams)
05:47: Macrocosm
10:12: Compulsion to Obey
13:35: Track 2 from the Anarchy - Digital Innovation demo
18:44: "BlueBerry"
24:55: Dotland from the Ninjaforce Megademo (Apple IIgs)

All are available from the MOD archive.

I tried listening to BEB.MOD, and it was one of the most godawful things I had ever heard in my life. It may have been impressive on a technical level, but I just couldn't stand listening to it. 🤣

I can attest to the quality of this MOD. I think I left it on repeat for about 10 minutes before I started checking out the other songs. 😀

You could try this 28 channel mod, it may only need 20 or 24 channels as I don't believe all channels had samples playing at the same time. I think the 28 channels are more for ease of notation, but it still has a monster amount of channels. Unfortunately it ends abruptly, but if your listening to it looped the end doesn't sound as bad when it comes back around to the quiet intro.

Technically, it's not a MOD format tracker music file unless it only has 4 channels. 😉

I realise a true mod file uses four channels but this was requested...

I like the laid-back style of Sound o'da lunatic. Dunno if it's pushing any limits of the format, but it's easy to forget that you're listening to a 4-channel MOD, which I think is an accomplishment in itself.

Thanks guys.

My point of this thread was to find mods that are advanced enough to break in most DOS players and to learn tricks from checking out their patterns 😀

Because i'm kinda stuck on this song that sounds very very off (only happy with the second half), which is 8 channels, uses 8 unique patterns, lasts a minute and plays at tempo 113 speed 6...
