While searching for the tool/utility as mentioned in my other new thread, I came across this site :

What does it do? Can you play PowerVR exclusive games (like Ulitm@te Race 1 Track) with it on Windows after installing it?

Is it a kind of wrapper?

I'm completely out of sync with PowerVR since I never have used a card with that chipset, and not familiar with it.

That emulator is for current technology from Imagination Technologies. They are still calling it PowerVR, and it is still tile-based, but that's about it. No proprietary APIs (or at least no old ones).

Quote from the one page you linked to: "PowerVR is the Graphics hardware for embedded systems, which is very popular in iPhones and iPads. PowerVR Emulator is very powerful and Imagination Technologies has always been the first to release emulators for Embedded Graphics."

Correct - it has nothing to do with SGL but rather their SGX mobile/embedded stuff. PowerVR gave up the PC market around 2002 and headed for MOBILE DOMINANCE with no looking back
