I ended up opening an "unpaid item case" and 4 days later the seller asked to cancel the transaction altogether. So I did. Had more bidders on the original auction so I did a "second chance offer" to the next guy in line (his bid was only $1 less). Guy instantly agreed and paid in a couple of hours. That's how buyers should be.
