How to tell random bytes in an exe is a graphic or font patterns or any other coded element?
How to separate them out?
I forgot I've asked the question here before.
But does anyone know?
Thanks
Jack

- Check if the data seems to have a repeating structure. This would be a point for font patterns or maybe other graphical elements.
- Try to change the byte and see if anything changes when executing the program.
- If you have the skill you could try to disassemble the program and look how the data is used.

Actually, I am quite interested in static analysis of ancient dos games. But it comes to those bytes,
I find it very overwhelming to decipher them byte by byte, I have been thinking of grabbing
a lot of bytes and throw them at the screen, and see what they are.
But sometimes they are encoded, so it makes it even harder.
Thanks
Jack

i usualy use program like multi ripper to extract known pattern.
...
strange enough, google refuse to show link where i can download this program, as i forgot where to download it before,
google showing me bunch of unrelated result like bangladesh, printing, or even basement!

the best google result was the textfile accompanying the program:
