^ and thaaaaat's exactly the condescending elitist attitude that keeps people away from linux.

Yeppers, I keep doing the following when I'm working on a Cent or Fedora Core server:
dir or dir /s
And then when working on a Windows machine I end up typing in the command shell:
ls or ls -al
And this isn't counting all the alias's that I are setup on both operating systems.

I get this point, but I've seen it from every OS fanboys point so it's nothing new.
However, I'm an old CP/M hack from days of yore, TRS/80, Kaypros and Osborne machines.
My favorite was CP/M Plus on the CBM 128 😁
No matter where you go, there you are...

on the contrary I am also a linux instructor and i have offered training to them free
including custom setups to make things easier
but some of the turds i work with are more concerned about butt kissing than anything else.
or blaming others for their screw ups
plain and simple with windows users they are too comfortable with their buggy software and too scared to try anything new.
elitist attitude no but a bad attitude yes
38 years as a computer tech and you wouldn't believe all the crap ive had to deal with

What else is there that stops you from using it exactly the same as you used windows 7?
Windows 7.
LoL, funniest post in the thread.

Elitism and generalisations.

You will never influence people by belittling their preferences.

you know what this got off to a bad start
either that or ive fallen into a trolls nest.
that was my first post and ive been attacked for it.

Your first post was essentially "Anyone not using Linux is an idiot."
What kind of welcome did you expect, exactly?

Seems to me you got into this forum just to argue in this thread. Don't take it the wrong way. I would most likely be using linux if it was not for my games.
But for someone with as much IT experience as you, I would expect you would have a bit more tact upon approaching a new forum community.

i said our management
I did not say anyone not using linux
If you mis understood what i said I apologize for the comment
I am not a gamer I am a hardware and software specialist and it was my mistaken thought that i might be of some help on this forum.
I program in java, python, ruby, perl, qbasic, fortran, c, c#
so for this matter this is my last post

Damn, back in high school I would hit the computer during the lunch break and program some Qbasic demos. That was the good time when I wanted to become a programmer. Then I tried C++ and decided I would do something else after all.

again I apologize for the remark
but understand where it came from and why
I had just finished a 36 hour stint of rebuilding a server farm because one of the twits decided to store some porn on it that caused the feds to confiscate every computer.
including all the backup tapes, drives, and optical media
that meant setting up 18 servers, 26 workstations , software installs, going into every machine and retrieving the control programs.
even with the automated processes for my installs it took a lot of time (stress and all)
my budget is shot for the next 5 years
and some of our management does not have the common sense of a road killed toad!
when you have to correct the same damn problems 8 or 9 times a year due to someone going to banned fun sites and downloading viruses.
you tend to get a bit testy
we have evac fans that are run by 5 hp three phase motor
twice now some idiots stuck their fingers in the cage to see what direction the fans turn immediate loss of finger

i was not putting anyone down here believe me
as long as ive been a tech I know full well the knowledge one needs to run a cli such as doss and other cli based programs
and visualise the amount of work involved in writing the programs for all of our old favourites.
and i applaud those who want to keep the old games and programs going.
these are skills few appreciate

actually i registered because of my skills with hardware and software tricks
I do have a kind of love for restoring old hardware.
like I said in an earlier post i started off on the wrong foot as i was tired and irritated and i shouldn't have posted then
believe me I didn't mean it the way it came out
The same attitude still comes across with that avatar.
i have no problem with microsoft only the lawyers who run it
would you rather i have an avatar of a lawyer being burned at the stake?
