AFAIK the existing updates, service packs and drivers will still be served. There won't be any FUTURE updates but what is available stays available. So far that's how it works for Windows 9x and 2k.
I could be wrong though...

Maybe abit overkill but a wsus server lets you pick and choose updates as MS purposely do this in case an update breaks some function in any poorly written program a company may use.

I think part of the whole mess of updates is, you get updates of updates sometimes in the space of a week or so when MS realise it's causing more trouble then good. and as you have said there are plenty of hotfix's MS don't make available on their website or though windows update but do end up including in a SP.

I know with Compaq OEM CD's you need SP1 installed SP3, not sure for a MS branded CDs? so seems like service packs aren't fully cumulative in my experience at least.

Although I must admit I don't fully get the point of picking security updates to such a level? an OS exploit still exists no matter if you use it or not. Your still vulnerable to say an ODBC exploit no matter if you have a anything that uses this or not.
I get it for say an office SP where it includes patches all the programs and you may not have outlook or whatever installed but XP service packs only really patch the core OS

As for future updates XP embedded and 2003 will still be patched for awhile so just like 2000 it's possible those updates will be ported to XP.

Seems to me no one is really sure what way this updates are updated and in what order...I am not worried about the updates, will they still countinue to produce them or not, Im just interested where can I download them all. Anyone got a link ? And no, Im not going to download all of them from official site because of that stupid form you got to fill in...Just imagine filling that form 1000times...

or
WSUS with 2003 but 2003 will be EOL next year....

I like to use Autopatcher, which can be used to install a whole bunch of patches at once, but which also serves (via "apup") as a handy way for downloading individual patches en masse from Microsoft.

I did use program from second link..But problem is still there. Look at the links i gave in my first post. That downloader will download 193 patches
from his update lists when you pick XP SP3. 193 ! And now go back to MS site (second link if i recall) and there are 300 patches ! Ok, where is the rest? That kind of things im talking about. Thats why I just dont like to use any of the automated programs. They just don't get the job done right... !

It was much more difficult in the old days and if you use WSUS you don't have to bother with the above.
