Hi everyone,

After years of trying to figure out how to listen to my old midi files the way they were back in the 90's, I finally mastered the Soundfonts.
I'm still trying to find THE sound card that was in my computer back then, it is fairly close to a OPL3, but I did had SoundBlaster 16 drivers
and a couple CREATIVE LABS images and logos everywhere. I think it might be a copy of these cards. If I still had that PC, I'd find out fast.
I also remember that in the last years of life of my PC, I saw that it might be a trident sound card. Does that make any sense?

Here's a sample of a track I recorded back then, unfortunately, it was probably recorded via a microphone close to my speaker and the
Hz ratio was fairly low.

Anybody can help me figuring out which card it was?

Thanks a lot!

Félix

Your recording is quite generic sounding, it has been produced by OPL2 or OPL3 compliant synthesizer that was present on almost every sound card back in '90s.

As far as I know, there were no Trident manufactured sound cards.

If you are going to listen to your old midi files on a new PC, you will need some OPL2/OPL3 emulator, like one embedded in DOSBOX.
