i need a good video card that can use a 300 watts power supply and is at least 256 mb. My onboard video card is an Intel(R) G33/G31. It doesn't have the openGL support that ATI or NVidea has. Changing the power supply is not an option. You suggestions would be most appreciated

Maybe a Radeon R7-250X if you have an PCI-E power connection.
Or a GTX750TI. I think some of those don't need external power.

Or if you can get ahold of an old Radeon 7750.

All of those cards are in the ~80W range and will work on 300W. They also have 1GB of GDDR5

The non-Ti GTX 750 is more power efficient, I think like 40-50W TDP. GT 630/40 are also low power. If age isn't a big deal, Radeon HD 3850 and GeForce 7900/7950 are pretty power efficient too (50W or less).

Maybe they might draw less power. But I doubt that it be more efficient compared to modern cards.

What's your CPU and RAM?

You could also check out the ATI 7570s on ebay (bout 50 bucks, its an OEM card.. not quite as powerful as a 7750). Although, bout double the budget and a GTX750 is a fine choice, but I've heard of some of them having issues with non UEFI compatible BIOS's.

Radeon HD 5550 to 5670 would probably suit you well, anything more powerful is a waste on C2D with 2Gb of RAM. I remember 5550 being a very low-power card.

Not really. I used to run a Radeon 6670 and most games would push the card to 99%. Granted there were some games that the CPU would bottleneck
but overall even a Radeon 7750 would be fine. You could probably pick one up for like $60 on ebay.

I'd say an ATI 7570 or 7750 would be a good match, that was when he jumps to a higher end system (if he does?) he can carry over the card.

I'm seeing to difference versions of motherboards for that model number but, it appears they both support 4gbs of RAM (2x2GB DDR2). That may help as well.

Unless it is something proprietary like a Dell, then no.

Even then most dells made in the past 10 years use a standard form factor and pinout (notice I said most)

If you can look up in Google my motherboard which is a ms-7529 and tell me it can be upgradable You will help me immensely. You can find the pictures of it in the image section of Google.

It's relative to the requirements - if an older game is all we're aiming at, it's probably a cheaper option. For running Oblivion, a GeForce 7900/7950 or Radeon 3850 is perfectly capable, and you can usually snag one for around $20 these days, as opposed to $100+ for a GTX 750. None of the other cards suggested here, including the GTX 750, are bad choices either - it's simply a matter of how much you'd like to (or are able to) spend. I'd also add the GeForce 8500/8600 to the list of potential candidates. If forwards-upgrading as Private_Ops suggested, is a concern, I would agree with the Radeon 7xx series and GeForce GTX 750 as candidates. If we're upgrading the PSU on this machine to something much more robust, G92 and GT200 GeForce and R700 Radeon cards are also worth looking at, but again for Oblivion (I'm really not familiar with "Future Pinball" but I'm assuming it's not the most demanding game in the world) it may not be necessary to have something so powerful. 😀
