Hey guys,

I was watching CN with my son the other day and noticed how some modern cartoons look like they were done by people on psychadelic drugs. What the hell? I thought that the target audience were kids, not dopers! Just look at stuff like Uncle Grandpa, Gumball, Adventure Time, etc. It's like the creators are competing at who'll make up more grotesque characters and bizzare plots. When I was a teen, I watched stuff like Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Two Stupid Dogs and others... even Cow & Chicken seemed a bit weird at times but it wasn't that bad. I'm afraid to think what they're gonna come up with in another 10 years. Maybe I'm just getting old but I still prefer the good old classics 😜 Heck, I even watch MiniMax and the stuff there is pretty cool.

It's been going worse since Uncle Grandpa (which replaced a few liked show's timeslots). It's worse when Nickelodeon tries to imitate the newer CN lineup.

I really don't want to see it as a 'nostalgia filter' thing. I still have an open mind for the new Simpsons seasons. 😀

To be fair Adventure Time at least can get pretty deep into plot and feels. Usually hides really well underneath a goofy exterior. But ya, I do not really watch newer cartoons unless the nieces/nephews and little cousins are watching them.

I grew up with Animaniacs, Pinky & the Brain, Freakazoid... The new cartoons can't hold a candle to those.

speaking of Freakazoid, its amazing how accurate it is about the internet. its freaky. *rimshot*

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I like watching Adventure Time once in a while, but to be honest, I don't pay a lot of attention to the cartoon scene nowadays.

Think newest cartoon I've bothered to watch is Rick & Morty and that was well worth it. (Basically a twisted ver of Back to the Future made by the guy that made Community).

Also the new TMNT cartoon.

Anime newest is Space Dandy.

Rick & Morty is GLORIOUS, but obviously not targeted at children. I also can't get enough of the show Archer.

The Lemon Kingdom and Liche episodes are proper stuff of nightmares, and eps about Simon and Marceline... the feels... 🙁

I've been getting back into some toonage lately. Adventure Time, Regular Show, Amazing World of Gumball, Uncle Grandpa, then later in the night some Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Invader Zim, Aaah! Real Monsters, etc.

Heck, even Spongebob Squarepants occasionally delivers an episode that hits my absurd funnybone.

Oh, Rick and Morty and Archer are a given, too! 😁

Cartoons have been going down in quality ever since Hanna Barbara went on from making awesome Tom & Jerry cartoons to stuff like Yogi Bear and such.
Another Quantity doensn't make up for Quality thing I guess.
