I am logging OPL2/OPL3 data and trying to create .VGM files, should I just use the latest VGM specification with all the latest features, or should I limit VGM file to some older version? Which versions are most commonly supported by players and tools so everyone could easily play/edit the files?

I've also been doing OPL>VGM logging (archiving demoscene/tracker/etc music, mostly) and the tools give me 1.51 VGMs which seems acceptable. No idea how much of a benefit the newer versions give for OPL, or if they just expand support for more chips. In a perfect world though, I'd like to push for newer VGM versions if only to encourage player developers to freakin' update things. So many players still only support 1.51 or 1.6 as maximum.
