Inspired by this thread by frostbyte, I went looking for any BBS/Shareware/Demos compilation CD-ROMS I still had in my collection.
First, this gave me an excuse to archive what I had, and second, it now allows me to share my finds with you now.

I have found :
1 CD-ROM BBS compilation,
1 Game Demo CD-ROM from Virgin,
2 Shareware Games Compilations,
1 Game Demo CD-ROM from various publishers.

I hope you can make use of stuff on here. If you find anything nice, especially in CDX '94, let me know!
They are all ISO disc images. Just burn them or mount them and you should be good to go.

The first CD-ROM I received when my parents bought a 486 DX2 66Mhz in 1994.
Strangely it came for free, but the PC itself didn't even have a CD-ROM drive so I never quite understood the logic behind this.

My mom came home with this sometime in 1995. Never knew where she had found it. A couple of games are worth the try.

A guy I went to school with "long-term lended" me this one in early 1996. I wanted to give it back in 2005 and he just grinned and said "keep it".

What browser are you using? They work fine for me in Chrome and Firefox (with extension).
Any suggestions on what I should use instead?

If a site requires an extension to download, maybe the site shouldn't be trusted to begin with. BTW they do erroneous takedowns, like doom maps

Anyway I was able to get someone else to fetch the images for me

I just added links to a dropbox mirror, in case these seem better to you.
Sorry for the time it took, my connection is far from what we can call 'fast' especially on the upload side.

Well that didn't take long. Dropbox suspended my account on the grounds that it generated too much traffic.
Sigh.

This is why I recommend using https://archive.org/upload/ which has no traffic limits or JavaScript downloader issues.

There's a Community Software collection which is a catch-all area to upload things and I'm a moderator of the Shareware CD collection at https://archive.org/details/cdbbsarchive so I can move things there to be found more easily.

Do we have the code required to browse Imagination Station's cd using its own interface?

Plus, both CDROM.EXE and CDROME.EXE on CDX '94 cd never manage to start for me when mounted to dosbox, they just hang upon execution.

After a few months of inactivity, a small update!

1. Availability of files.
Some of the downloads have been taken down on MEGA (surprisingly). I'll try to reupload them somewhere else... I mean they are CDs of shareware or demos, why would anyone think that this work should not be distributed for free. Anyway... leileilol had warned me! In the meantime Dropbox should work.

2. New additions.
I received another shareware CD from Imagitec this summer and just got the time to upload it now. Good news is that for this one, I do have the password.

I'll get in touch with you for this. Thank you.

Sadly not. I guess I threw out the jewel case while cleaning up stuff and never thought about the password.
However, I just uploaded another from the same collection (see above) and I'll try to compare the two executables to see if I could not find a difference between the two files... that could be the password it's waiting for that is different.

Yes, same for me. I'm trying in my real hardware machine at the moment to see if there's any difference. Be right back.

On real hardware I get :

WARNING! Error In Floating Point Value.
Press Any Key To Continue,
or Ctrl+Break To Terminate.

and when I press anything, including Ctrl+Break :

Process Terminated By Floating Point Exception

then the PC hangs... not sure if that means the ISO is corrupted, or if the software has trouble with newer hardware?

😀 Thank you very much, i was searching a game i've played when i was young. Some files on the original floppy are corrupted and without the work you have done, i wont be able to play it again 😀

The game is pacminator (/dir007 on CDX '94), a shoot'em up with enemys that comes in waves.

Glad to help!
Did you get the CDX Program to run on your retro rig (if you did, I want to know your specs). Or did you just search the zip files?

I will try tomorow, i think i have blank cdrom somewhere

For now I only tryed the game alone on dos box, didnt used the menu.
I found the game on the listing of the cdx '94 here (in french)
http://www.cjoint.com/doc/16_03/FCnd00bBJ55_allfiles.txt
And the cdrom name has brought me to your post and the files you uploaded <3

I can try it on few différents old computers to see if the menu want to work (one of them is à 486dx2 66 😉 )

After reading x689thanatos' post I gave it another go. For me it didn't run on a P1 but run correctly on a 386.

It work well on an ibm 330 p75 with w98
Same on gateway 2000 p5-133 with w98
For both it work in dos or in windows 98

From cdrom.exe on thé cd -> the menu work
Or
Install.exe -> install few files on c:\CDX -> run cdrom.exe from the hard drive

I didnt get it to work from my 486dx2 but the problem may come from my old mitsumi cdrom drive ( violation of system integrity... or even bsod). Have to try with some other cd's

For both pentium computers, they are up to date / got them with w98 already working. Didnt spend time to reinstall them (only did some cloning to preserve the hdd they came with).
Éven if for dos it wont change anything ^^

On both pentium cdrom is d:
But on my 486 cdrom is g:
I dont know if it can impact the software (when I've installed it from the 486 hard drive, the installer saw it correctly ).
