FYI: noticed that Firefox suddenly refuses to show user avatars here... and going directly to the avatar's URL spews this Big Red Warning:

Reported Unwanted Software Page!
This web page at http://www.vogons.org has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences.
Unwanted software pages try to install software that can be deceptive and affect your system in unexpected ways.

It seems like Google has flagged vogons.org today (Jan 25) as "partially dangerous": https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/saf … #url=vogons.org. Possibly tripped by some downloadable attachment or other.

Odd...perhaps it's one of those advertisement accounts that changed their profile to include a link to a malicious website?
That warning page didn't include a lot of usable info that might help in tracking down where the problem is coming from though.

edit:
Wouldn't it be a good idea to inform the admins here? Would make sense if they were already warned though.

Using Firefox here... Eighter the forum code is messed up or FF has been updated without any info.

Edit:
Chrome is working too.

Yep. An old attachment suddenly was considered dangerous. (the w7ddwrapper).
I removed it and asked google to check the site again. It can take up to 3 days.

Could something like a CAPTCHA for executables/compressed archives prevent further issues? I assume having one of those would prevent google from scanning attachments.

Not sure if the following information is related to the problem experienced by the OP, but I'll post it anyway.

(1) I originally had a link on my sig to the forum search, that searches all my posts, but Qbix had to remove it because Google doesn't like it.

(2) I'm using Comodo Ice Dragon, which is based on Firefox, and I don't experience the disappearing avatar problem. My Ice Dragon is version 38.0.5.

Hope it helps.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

The disappearing avatar problem in Firefox is surely related to the Google Safe Browsing issue, it appeared to me on the same day. Weird that not all avatars are affected for me (probably browser cached...)

Anyhow, please be patient people, as Qbix says it should resolve itself in a few days.

Yep!

Google confirmed that the "bad" file has been removed and will take down the warnings. This can take a few hours, but the case seems closed.
