/me was more of an C64+Amiga-head about 15 years ago 😎. Was very into games such as:

  • M.U.L.E.,
    Shadow of the Beast,
Lemmings (damn, that game put a kink in my Uni studies) 😎,
    Total Eclipse,
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders (recently revived on ScummVM)

Of the few DOS games I've played, my favourites would be (in no particular order):

  • Civilization 1 & 2,
    Dune 2: Battle for Arrakis,
The Lost Vikings (Thank you DOSBox for allowing me to play this excellent puzzle/platformer again 🤑),
    BioForge,
Star Wars: Dark Forces (and Jedi Knight and...)

I know this thread is old, but I must contribute:

My favorite Dos games would have to be:

-The Ultima Series (In this order: 3<1<4<8<2<5<6<7<Serpent Isle-- The best Ultima!!!)
-TIE Fighter(X-wing is ok, but pale in comparison)
-Master of Orion (I liked MoM too, but not as well)
-Ultima Underworld 1 & 2
-Betrayal at Krondor (under-praised in my opinion)
-X-COM:UFO Defense
-Lemmings

Never did get into the Ultima series. Missed out on the "Master of" and X-COM games as well. Betrayal at Krondor and Tie Fighter are easily in my top 10 PC games of all time list though.

1. Wing Commander Privateer plays really well on Dosbox .65 the remake is a great peace of work.. but remake gold ..noooot!
2. Ultima VI and VII but Serpent Isle Rocked!!
3. Master of Magic (Microprose).. the best strat turn based game ever made also does great on dosbox .63 I think Master of Orion is the same basic engine also by microprose
4. Dune my first real time strat game this game will run anywhere on anything!!!! even an old victrolla with a sandpaper plater!!!
5. Doom my first FPS made me dizzy...couldnt play long but I loved it. I think it was a love hate thing. I did Doom and I had a buddy that got Duke Nuk'em... we were going to trade up after we got sick of what we had but just never traded...go figure!?!

Best Midi Tune....Wing Commander 2 Kilrathi, in Ulitima VI I think?, you could go to a place near Cove and there was a Kilrathi crashlanded ship...every time you got near it the tune would play...great stuff!!! I would pass by just to here the song... you can down load it off a link from the Wing Commander CIC site. 😁

favorite voice...is opening to WC Privateer: A Pirate... What is it HuH? A smuggler far of the normal space lanes? Maybe a bad smuggler with some nice contraband!!!

Privateer Borrows.....Sorry boy's I'm just a tourist with a fraged nav console, can someone tell me where I am???

Pirate.... Deep in trouble little tourist!! prepare to be boarded!!

Borrows...... Prepare to go to hell!!!!

Best cut scene I have to cheat a little here...Freespace The Great War opens with a fighter pilot in a damaged space craft calling for help... send fighters!! ...they just came out of nowhere.....who came out of nowhere pilot!?!...were they Vasudans?? NO>>>NO they just came out of nowhere and killed everyone.. they weren't terrian and they weren't Vasudan we can send a recovery craft...NO>>>NO send fighters ... ohh there coming for me...its to late. For it's time the best graphics leap I ever saw...it was stunning... that game will play on xp just like it is ..the sequel freespace 2 still rivals anything out there in space flyers.

Most people have already mentioned all my favourites.

Did anyone ever play that ancient Dungeons and Dragons game where you're looking for an orb that's down in level 66 or something.

Can't remember the name of the game, but it was extremely basic, mainly text, but remember I was SO addicted to that thing on my old Amstrad PC! 😀
