For example, I was born in Ufa, which is the capital of one of such regions called Bashkortostan republic. Street signs are in two languages — Russian and Bashkir. They don't belong to the same language family and basically only share an alphabet. Bashkir is actually more closely related to Turkish than any Slavic language. And no, I don't speak any Bashkir 😀.

More than a quarter of my country is below sea level. In addition to that, 50% of its land lies less than one meter above sea level. The nation's main airport is actually 4.5 meters below sea level. Luckily, my country is not in a tsunami-prone part of the world. Then again, if ever the dikes would collapse, it sure would be handy to have a rubberboat around..
