Hi, I recently had a problem with a laptop I bought during a trip to Paraguay when we were in a vacation in Puerto Iguazú (by the way, the Iguazú Waterfalls were great). The problem is the keyboard. Some keys don't output the expected key(and some even output a combination of symbols). I tried everything: restarting the laptop, changing keyboard distributions, etc but still no luck. I connected an external keyboard and it works as expected. What is going on? I never had that kind of problem before.

I would try booting the laptop from a Linux CD. A lite distribution like SliTaz would be ideal. If the keyboard works normally, you'll know the hardware is fine and something is wrong with the installed operating system. If not, either the keyboard hardware is defective or something is wrong in the BIOS.

The computer doesn't have a CD drive. Tried booting from USB but still no luck.

Possibly the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard is loose? You could try re-seating it.

You didn't mention a laptop model, but you might be able to find a maintenance manual (PDF) for it that shows the quickest way to remove the keyboard.

Awesome, now the external keyboard doesn't work either with that laptop ONLY, becuase I tried it on another one and it works perfectly fine. It has to be the software. But,why? I've never seen Windows behave like that.

UPDATE: I got the laptop back today. Apparently there was a shortcircuit on the keyboard that affected the USB ports and that is why the external keyboards didn't worked. But the external keyboards work now. And I also got one of those flexible keyboards with it.

Yeah, I am not an expert by any means. But getting off-topic a little bit, I noticed on my mail that someone by the nickname of cornhole replied to this topic. But I don't find any posts made by that user. And the most intriguing thing is that I tried using the Find a member feature to find him, but I don't get any results. What did his message said?
