Yep, I've never seen or heard of a driver disc for the Dell variants. Only downloads, and never a Win98SE driver available.

What a shame really. I will still look how to do it, I only need the "ID" so I can try to mod the installer, but I dont know where or how to get it.
I posted the hardware IDs for a legit non-OEM Audigy 2 ZS here:
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your System."

Ok, Ill try later to mod the driver. Your IDs are 20021102 which I think the driver has and my ID is 20061102. Hope I can do this! Will post later and if it works will share the modded files. Thanks
Sooooo did it work ? 😀

Nope, as I dont have the correct ID. I'm really sad.
Isn't it XP? If so, can't you just modify the IDs in the INF to have it install?

I intend to use the Audigy 2 on Win98SE (best card for the OS I beliebe, as I got an X-Fi (Auzentech X-FI Forte 7.1) which is great 😀
Win9x should be even less picky than XP about substituting device IDs in INF files.

Problem is driver installer doesnt let install the package as it cant detect a valid card.
matcarfer,
You posted earlier that your hardware ID is "20061102", but that seems incomplete to me. Full hardware IDs for the three Audigy 2 ZS components look like what I posted here.
Go here and download this installer CD.
Search all *.inf files on that CD for the hardware IDs I posted earlier and replace them with your own OEM version hardware IDs. The installers should then work under Win98SE. If you're unable to do this, just post your hardware IDs exactly like I did previously and I'll mod the *.inf files for you.

Thanks, will do this later and post results, thanks for the help.
I´m having the exact same problem with a Dell version of a Audigy 2 ZS in Windows 98. I have tried the trick with editing the wdma_emu.inf file. However there´s 5 different HW ID´s on my Audigy audio processor so how do I know which ones to replace in the file and which ones should I use from my card?
These are the HW ID´s I found in the registry for the Audigy Audio Processor.
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20061102&REV_04
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_20061102
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&REV_04&CC_0401
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_0401
For a real retail Audigy 2 ZS, the three hardware IDs of the various components listed in WinXP SP3's hardware manager are here:
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your System."
You should be able to find those three IDs for your OEM/Dell variant. Once you have them, you can insert your OEM/Dell IDs in place of the retail IDs in the *.inf files. If you're unable to do this, post your OEM/Dell variant IDs here and I'll do it for you.
I think this is like the fourth time I've asked somebody to post their IDs so I can help, and they never do it. Why is this so difficult? Let me know so I can help you. I no longer have my OEM/Dell card, so I can't do this for you. Just post your IDs like I did here, and I'll edit the *.inf files for you.
I'm not going to keep repeating myself like a broken record. If anybody reading this would like help getting their card to work under Win98SE, just post your OEM/Dell IDs, just like I did here for the retail version, and I'll edit the *.inf files for you. I can't guarantee success, but I'm happy to help you try this out.
So I looked at the registry again and picked all the hardware ID info I could find for my Audigy 2 ZS from there, my info is listed at the bottom of this post.
As you can see everything is listed twice although with a little difference in the description text for the game port part. All the HW ID info seems to be the same between the two listings for each component as far as I can see?
Is this all the info that you need? 😀
Thanks for taking the time and helping with this, I appreciate it 😀

OK thanks for the info. It's the holidays and things are chaotic, so please give me a few days. When I have some free time, I'll edit the *.inf files for you. I'm real curious to find out if this will work.

Did you get a chance to look at this? 😀
Thanks for reminding me. I'll try to get this completed sometime tomorrow.
(I totally forgot about this with all the holiday stuff going on. My apologies.)

No problem, I´ve not had much time for this stuff during the holidays either 🤣
Well, my attempt to mod the *.inf files has failed. I couldn't find anyplace within the files that would differentiate between an OEM and retail version of the card. Whatever mechanism the installer media uses to identify hardware goes beyond the *.inf files. I'm sorry I couldn't help. Maybe somebody with more experience than me can jump in here and lend a hand.
