I've still got my original Aces of the Pacific spiral bound manual. Nearly 200 pages. The Control Documentation booklet is another 54 pages. Red Baron's manual is similarly long and came with separate foldup war maps of the London, Dunkirk, and Paris regions. These things must've cost a fortune to make so when you paid $50+ for a game, I imagine the bulk of that covered the cost of the box and documentation, leaving precious little profit for the game itself.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

My favorite one is the 1995-2000 period, when 3D race games became available, the hardware advancements were incredible and the hardware was of excellent quality.
