By the way, I hope this gets fixed and solved soon, a time limited EDIT isn't good for most big threads such as benchmark ones which needs to be updated, or other kind of lists.
Even I use the edit feature a lot, not much for grammar adjustments on my posts, but to give updates on certain posts on some threads.

this is usually resolved by allowing users to PM a moderator for editing rights to their own threads. Or just have a mod give users editing rights once he/she feels that user is most likely not going to go insane for no reason.

Sup. I like computers. Are you a computer?

Thanks for confirming that I set up everything correctly. The edit button doesn't show when I transfer permissions to test things out. I assume it is a tiny bug.

Can't you make a regular non admin account to test things regarding regular users?

Just added a new thread. The edit button(and delete button) show up correctly. My slightly older threads/posts from 1-2 days ago are still locked? How long can posts be edited now?
Edit: The same applies to this post. Editing works atm.

How long is this (I hope momentarily, since there are also threads that need continuous updates across the forums, such as listings) time limit span, from when you post to when you won't be able to edit a post anymore ?

I was able to edit more than a day old post and still it is open for edit.

Thanks for enabling the edit, even if it is time-based, suits me just fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience and don't panic 😉

I read your note, Qbix, and could only think of one thing. Don't tell anyone the coffee is running out. 😁

I get edit button and delete button on new posts. Old ones, I have not checked yet.
If it is for new ones only, then fine with me personally. I have no tread I maintain.
There will however be in the future, when I have the time showing off my builds.

Just testing stuff.

Yeah, edit button is back! And functional 😁

Personally I liked being able to exchange the photobucket links with local versions of the same images and for editing old threads.

Wouldn't it be possible to give certain members back the editing button so they can edit their older replies?

Next time there is any significant drama that happens like the ebay thread. I'm going to change my avatar pic to a bowl of flowers and just post "*sigh* oh-no, not again"

We're all here with a common interest. Taking back free posted info detracts from the whole point of this hobby. The focus is lost.

If the design and meta politics aren't suitable then take on the challenge of an alternate community where "free" tools of the trade are commodities over there.

One big thing that's changed with this limit is actually a really simple one: changing a topic's title, which requires you to 'edit' the first post to even do. I regularly update the topic title of my topics to reflect the current state being talked about in the latest posts(as opposed to the problems that already have been solved(partly) from the first post of the topic). So essentially a refinement of the topic title, which can't be done when the first post is too old(which is kind of odd)? Does the topic title have to be mentioned in the very first post(which may be locked after time) as opposed to some general location that's a general setting for the whole topic(and used for new replies only., as well as the current overview title in the forum overview page itself)?

I should mention I had to impose edit times on my own board for years because there would be some contributors that would suddenly mass blank their posts for inexplicable reasons. All I could do is just humiliate them with a custom title, like "HAHA I BLANKED MY POSTS!!! THATLL SHOW THAT GAME'S SMALL FORUM THEY DONT DESERVE MY EGO HAHAHA". It's definitely a thing that's only been happening in recent years.
