8 days left with 47 bids ..already at $575 AUD..yeaaaa that sumbitch is gonna break some ones bank.

adlib_gold.png

Now that's some broken bank. Never really understood the desire for these when other cards such as the audiotrix pro are both better and rarer.

amusing note: if the image is named "adlib.png" it triggers some warning that reaction images are off topic and won't display inline.

1800, I was expecting more.

yeah, I saw a scrap lot with a barely visible adlib gold in it sell for over €2000 without the condition of the card even being clearly visible.

Seller was probably really confused.

2000 Euro is just north of 3100AUD ...for a scrap lot Adlib Gold of unknown condition.

€2000 for old junk in unknown condition? Hmmm ... 🙄

Maybe it's better to simply put €2000 inside a slot instead? 😄

I have been noticing a lot more hardware being sold as untested, as-is, possibly defective and commanding prices which used to be for tested good hardware. I have two dead Voodoo2 cards, so this listing caught my eye: https://www.ebay.com/itm/165733221384 It is an untested Voodoo2 that wold for $95 + $23 shipping in auction. This is what these sold for just 18 months ago and in guaranteed working condition.

Yeah I've also seen defective ones selling for a lot , its mental that they fetch prices for what should be considered scrap waste for most people at that point.

Being an experienced eBay user I have to say these sales might look like thousands of currency but buyers / sellers and eBay can cancel the wins. Or even get a record for not paying (strikes)
So I don't beleive everything I see on eBay.
Or the internet for that matter.

Reminds me of this $40 "assorted electronics" listing I grabbed off kijiji in 2020.

I grabbed this working card last month for $100. Seller disclosed it had a gouge next to one of the large VSA chips, but the card was tested working. It does work, so whatever, some solder mask and it'll be fine. I just wanted one with a black PCB as I have a half dozen but they're all green.

yeah that's how about I got mine although that was literally declared as "PC scrap, PCBs, silver, gold etc." ... even though it was clearly visible in a picture... luckily the last picture in the auction 😁

Funny thing about tested versus untested, I've had more luck with untested h/w than tested h/w.

I've bought hardware that has been claimed to have been working only to find it defective upon arrival. This has especially been an issue with some of the sound modules I've bought over the years, though usually a recap will fix those issues.

Meanwhile I think all of the untested h/w I have bought has turned out to work perfectly. In some cases they're in better physical condition than many of the purported 'tested' items.

I looked further and noticed that it only has one PCIe slot, which I think must have limited its usefulness. Were there other AM2 AGP boards with one PCIe x16 and one or two PCIe x1 or x4 slots?

There's only the AM2NF3-VSTA which has no PCIe at all. That one usually sells for 50€+.
But there's also the 939Dual-SATA2, which has PCIe x16 + PCIe x1 and can be upgraded to AM2 via an expansion board.

$220: https://www.ebay.com/itm/295129019351
$195: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125342593224
150€: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255555447225
90€: https://www.ebay.com/itm/154996711364

Interestingly one was auctioned off for 25,50€ not long ago:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/304571192442
Someone got a bargain there.

No way !
Are these AGP + PCIe board that expensive ?
I have a 939DualSata2 as testing motherboard.
And I m'not very careful with it to be honest.
It's always on my desk, never in a case, i boot it with a coin/screwdriver on the pins.

I got it last year in Leboncoin (~French Craigslist) with a 3D prophet Radeon 9700 Pro (Both untested… but both OK)
for 40€ + shipping

(I used it in my GPUJune video : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=axlZv9zkyE4)

I cant link this but a AMD K5 PR200 just got listed for $1,799 USD + $158 USD for shipping and $277 USD in import charges. (The last two are to Australia and both are absurd oh and you can add %10 GST to the total sum and add international currency exchange fees, bringing the total to more than $4000 AUD)

I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of fakes started appearing in the near future.

No idea if this will sell for 1800 USD but I'm going to keep an eye on it just out of sheer curiosity.

Not this item in particular but the fact that people are willing to pay this much for an item that could be faked quite easily. We've all seen gold-tops with the paint scraped off by the heatsink so it can't be too hard to remove it and paint it over with a PR200 label. I'm not sure but aside from the label PR133-PR200 are virtually identical as appearances go. That's a huge scammer opportunity right there.

A lot of the PR166 chips will happily run at PR200 speeds with zero issue so yea itll be easy enough to fake a bunch since PR33/PR166 cpu are pretty cheap and easy to get. (Though PR166 wouldn't be a cost effective fake to use)
