Hi everyone,

A while ago I've found a fascinating video about early computer graphics,
and thought I'd let you know about it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbiBVypH31w
(also on the internet archive : *link*)

This one's roughly from 1985/86 or so.

There's some really neat and pretty footage within.
Some of which ndeed deserves to be called magical.

Alas, they don't make them anymore that way,
which makes me sad a bit.

I really like these old graphics without too much realism. ^^
All those gradients, untextured objects and wireframe/vector models
had both a mysterious and fascinating "touch" to them.

Best regards,
Jo22

That... video has quite the unfortunate mentioning of the WTC being "removed from the NYC skyline"... heh.

Love it! Lots of the footage was also covered in Foley/van Dam's Computer Graphics book (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Grap … es_and_Practice). The 80s were really pioneering in a lot of CG techniques.

Thanks for the replies, guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one here who still likes that kind of animation. ^^
