Hi everyone,
just saw the news and thought I should mention it..

https://hackaday.com/2019/01/19/midi-associat … -0-prototyping/

As the title says, the new standard isn't ready yet.
It rather is the start of the experimental phase.

Best regards,
Jo22

The whole "tighter timing" seems interesting as most MIDI interfaces today are done through USB which can lead to pretty poor latency / bad timing.

As I understand it from a lot of research is that USB is the absolute worst possible thing to use if you want good low latency and tight timing.

I wonder if they are going to bring back real MIDI interfaces that are also higher speed. This would make the most sense to me as it would also be inherently backwards compatible with the original spec.
