That cabbage dish sounds delicious!

Yah! It couldn't be simpler either.

My wife pointed out that it's somewhat similar to an American staple: corned beef and cabbage.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacon_and ... bage_(USA)

In a pinch, just slice some nappa cabbage, roast it and eat it alongside your favourite salty meat.

I am making "Ripper-pork" today. It is my own recepie, and I am only using herbs and spices, that was to be found in London in the 1890's. Hence the name Jack-The-Ripper-Pork. I develloped the recepie my self, and I named it. The picture is from when it went into the oven. The black liquid is a pint of porter. (beer type)

Today I used 1.6 to 1.7 kilo of meat (just over 3 pounds) and is for 4 persons. I will be serving some baked roots for it (root-selleri, carrots, onions and that stuff), seasoned with thyme, black pepper, salt and garlic.

That sounds yummy. There's nothing like a good pork roast

I will post a picture, once it is out of the oven. It needs to rest half an hour to one hour.

Yes please. I have a full day of cooking tomorrow with it being Thanksgiving here in the states.

Is that tomorow? I thought it was last weekend or first weekend after halloween. Oh well... At least I know when you guys have 4'th of July. 🤣.
It just need half an hour more in the oven, then I will let it rest and post a picture.

By the way. If no turkey is to be found. Then what do Americans eat instead on thanksgiving. I have never found out.

Canadian thanks giving is in October and ours is generally the 4th Thursday is November. Alot of people do a spiral ham. My family and my wife's family usually do a mix of Italian, Portuguese, and Puerto Rican food for Thanksgiving since we're all a mix of the three.

Uhhh.... Nice. Sounds good. Fusion food, were different cultural stuff is mixed, are for some reason the best.
Else I love old school food the way that my grand parents made it.

Same here my friend. The past tastes better than the future. It's not so much fusion food as just individual dishes from each culture

It is done, only need to rest now. However this is what it looks like, when getting out of the oven.
I have not resized the image, so it is large... And no. Not giving out the recepie. 😀

Uhhh... That kebab. Yumyum ommenom. The Turkey, not so much. Sorry.

It’s the other way around. The Afghan kebabs were a disaster - the kofta (really a koobideh but this establishment fashioned itself to be a hybrid Afghan/Bangladeshi joint...which sounds terrible) was dry, the beef was tough, and the chicken (which was okay) tastes like chicken tandoor (not bad but not Afghan). The rice was flavorless and they omitted the obligatory grilled tomatoes, onions and peppers. It was a takeout place “phoning it in”, and frankly, it was a bit of me confusing the name of a local Afghan Persian place with the name of that establishment when I did the ordering online - My Farsi speaking ex would have picked up the phone and cursed the owner out for serving this slop. My wife (not Persian nor Afghan) thought it was fine but I was totally unimpressed.

The turkey dinner looked kinda unappetizing but then we didn’t really do much to make it look better (it was a takeaway meal at one of those nights where you should stay at home with your family and cook your own). The leftovers meal the next day looks better since we steamed some broccoli and made a salad to accompany them. The fresh batch of mashed potatoes and gravy did also help. (Although I also remembered why I don’t roast turkeys more often - not a fan of the meat)...

Ahhh I see. Personally I don't like the taste of turkey meat eighter. A goose is way better.
However, any hard seasoned meat is right up my alley. No matter if it is chilli or cinnamon.
I guess I am a kind of every culture-meat kind of guy. Spices???!! YES PLEASE, and lots of it. 😉

Oh yeah - the Brazilian churrischuria I went to for lunch was much better. Although the skirt steak was a little over cooked for my tastes.
