there are 5 guarding bots on it so it won't be taken over easily 😉
unlike the SlashNET #vogons guarded by Stiletto himself alone 😉

As long as I can be opped on the EFNet channel... 😁

#dosbox on Freenode has effectively been #vogons in the past...

Nothing's official until we can all agree, and can agree to monitor it. 😀

People who aren't familiar with IRC should be aware that it's not private and so is not a good place to discuss controversial issues.

IRC. Lovely golden years.. I was an Administrator on several famous local/global IRC servers for long time during 90's.
If that great community needs an IRC place, well for either technical-chit-chat or laiding-back, rest&chat purposes (well, if you got time for that tho 😜) I'd love to setup an IRC server on my own, for Vogons community, in case of any need. (Let it be: irc.vogons.org or something). 😊
Let me know!

Greetings,

Just tonight after getting ethernet going yesterday with an 8088 NEC V20 build and a 3COM 3C503, ftp is working well at 60KB/s with transfers and I figured I'd give ircjr from mtcp a whirl. I have frequented #LFS/#LFS-Support/#Cross-LFS on freenode since early 2000's, and IRC way back late 90's. It'd be nice to IRC with some Vogons and other Retro forum members if they wish. The nights of sharing ideas and projects is always exciting.

Did this ever happen? Was there ever one set up? It would be kinda neat to IRC on a vintage 'puter. 🤣

Check me out at Transcendental Airwaves on Youtube! Also wtf, why are whoppers so good?!

I visit #retrodreams at irc.slashnet.org on my 286, 486 with OS/2 v3 on it etc.. It has bridges to a couple of Discord old computer related channels and quite active.

There's a glitch in the matrix.

G'day,

Spotted an IRC channel on irc.ozorg.net called #avcc (Australian Vintage Computer collectors). Might be good. I'm going to idle. Apparently it's non-system agnostic so anything goes. I guess these things need time to grow.

You still sticking there? Last I heard the people were apparently using #vogons on slashdot. We could unite on one server (anything goes) and keep #vogons and #dosbox.

Which IRC software would suit me best on my 486 DX5-133 machine running Windows 95? Visual IRC '96 doesn't have a lot of options to enter channels or other things, except for the IRC URL.

Got it sorted. Using the old fashioned Microsoft Chat.

should have created it on freenode (#vogons) because most guys here are there on #dosbox

as for an irc client for win 95 why don’t you try mIRC 6.21? Works for me

Here's a mind blowing thing: FireFox 1.0.1 on my Packard Bell has an IRC chat software, which is nice.
