Should've known better but couldn't resist the price on this Dell M780. Always had a longing for CRT's in great shape
and this was one of them until it got to me that is - see pics. It's tragic as this one looks pristine otherwise and works
great too with DOS games. It was packed competently so it was down to dropping it just right so it hit the corner where
it's weakest. Lesson learned, don't go for CRT's shipped, do local pickup only.

Ok rant over, anyone have any tips to repair this unsightly blemish? The piece fits back pretty tight so maybe some
gorilla glue and duct tape of a discriminate color will work.

If it was me doing the repair, I would completely disassemble the monitor so I could work on the broken plastic parts by themselves.

Make sure to discharge the monitor before disassembly if you do go that route.

If no bits are missing you can fix it with a quality plastic cement. If there are bits missing then find a plastic weld filler/glue, or just glue them together with a slow drying super glue & baking soda mix, then sand it down with wet sandpaper.

I'm afraid if I try to disassemble it more pieces will break off. I got some JB Weld so will try to doctor it up the best I can. It works
fine so I'll keep it till something else better comes along. On a side note the seller gave me a complete refund so not all was lost.

Very cool about the full refund. It will be a bit harder without disassembling but should be doable. Just don't get any on the glass.

On a side not, my 19" CRT had the stand break into a bunch of pieces so I'll probably be removing it completely since it is useless now... but it still does stand still which is amazing. Just no more tilt/swivel.

Hate that about the stand, plastic just "dry rots" over the years. I couldn't help but wonder if a 3d scanner/printer was available is it
possible to duplicate the plastic on the old monitors? There are outfits that probably could do it but the cost would be prohibitive
I imagine.
