30 years ago, on the 24'th of September. Nevermind was released. I was 15 and turned 16 the next February.

Oh how time flies.

Yeah... I turned 15yo good 10 days before 🤣

There was news piece on the radio today about it. Played some songs... can't believe it's been that long ago... certainly doesn't feel like it 🙁

Requests are also possible... /msg kixs

I was 12. Good album, I prefer Ten (September 1991) and Badmotorfinger (October 1991) though.

To me, the two best albums of the entire Grunge era, were Superunknown and Dirt. But I still remember the first time I saw the Smell's like teen spirit video. During the day people were talking about this new and absolutely kickass album (Nevermind), and after school I went to a friends house to play Amiga and then the video were played like 4 times each hour on MTV. Mind I say, we forgot all about Amiga that day. 😁

Then came the next 3 years or so, were we all was happy and there were no sorrows at all. And then came the sad day on the 5'th of April 1994. Following the backrupcy of Commodore later the same month. What a sad month April 1994 was. 🙁

1991 was a good year for releases. Ten and Badmotorfinger were huge

I second Superunknown and Dirt from brostenen as objectively better though I did listen to Nevermind a ton.

I'll add Slave to the Grind to that list as well....but as far as the crown goes I'm going to have to say Metallica.

Those albums are more are the soundtrack of my mid-late high-school years - I have a shocking memory in general but listening to them now brings it all back so clearly. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Thank goodness for alcohol and computers.

Good recent article/retrospective about Cobain: https://www.newyorker.com/culture/personal-hi … ith-kurt-cobain

I wasn't quite a teenager when Nevermind came out, but I don't recall Teen Spirit making much of an impression on me... However one day I heard In Bloom and Lithium and it all clicked for me

Some say that 1991 was one the best years in terms of important albums releases.
Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy, Primal Scream, Massive Attack, R.E.M, Pearl Jam, KLF in another genre, Hole, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Queen...

Although not 1991, I would pick Chaos AD instead, it put them in the map. They were just another death metal band till Chaos AD.
Similar to what happened to Opeth, when they did pure death metal it was not that special, but from Damnation (a gem of an album) and on, they developed their own signature sound.

They are more trash metal than death metal. 😉
For old school death metal, then we have Ildisposed.

I would say that up to Arise their sound and theme is death-metal. Chaos AD yes, it is more thrash-metal in sound and lyrics. They changed sound again in Roots (their last decent album, imho) to something closer to groove-metal. But of course, you might be right and I wrong.
I don´t know Ildisposed, but I am afraid it is too late for me to explore it. I don´t find like listening to death or black anymore (I was never really into it much). Doom, gothic and "emotive" metal (later Katatonia and Anathema, for instance), yes sure.

So many metal heads here. Faith in humanity somewhat restored....

I consider myself a metal head too. Even though I like everything from classical music to heavy metal 😀 including a bit harder too. Heck I have actutally met quite a few Danish metal bands 😀 and they were all pretty chill, and a cool bunch 😀

brostenen: you should check out Demolizer, since you are into thrash metal 😀

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
