To all the "VOGONS" out there, how old can you go ? Who among your ranks has recorded the oldest (publically avalible) resurrected program?

*Just because you don't specifically mention "using DOSBox", I'm moving the topic to the Milliways section*

I think he means: "what is the oldest game you have been able to run?"

For me, it could be something like Alley Cat by IBM. I may have something older, but I don't remember now. 😁

Just about the oldest game (at least the oldest text adventure game) out there is Adventure or Colossal Cave from about 1968 and ported to PC in the mid '80s. If you want to limit it to PC games, the first game for the PC was Sierra's "Adventure in Serenia" AKA "The Wizard and The Princess" from about 1982 or 83. Both easily run in DOSBox.

I think you'll find this interesting (attention Qbix/Harekiet!)

Running the latest DOSBox CVS, I took some screenshots of one of the oldest games I could find on HotU. It's called MyChess and was supposedly made in 1979.

Posting these one at a time, as the forum seems to only display the first attached picture in posts with multiple ones.

I should mention that I'm pretty sure the game is using the hi-res 640x200x2 CGA mode that that Spacewar game uses. Also, it doesn't look garbled if I run it in the XP NTVDM.

And here it is looking even worse running with machine=cga. Shouldn't this mode be supported with machine=cga?
