Hi. Found this game. Uses VGA/SB.

Looks promising, love the untextured polygons! ❤️

This brings up a interesting question…

Can newer games be ported to dos? (Maybe by use of some sort of shell?)

Can we make a really graphics intensive new game for dos that utilizes hardware newer than what was around when dos was?

What is the limit for how graphics intensive a dos game can be?

There are several challenges here.
Newer mainboards do not have support for DOS-era sound. Meaning, you don't have ISA slots, and even emulation for PCI cards such as SB Live or Audigy stopped working at some point.
It *is* technically possible to have modern(ish) sound to work under DOS, but you're on your own to write a driver (if you can get the documentation) and you'd have to be quite specific in what exactly audio hardware do you wanna support.

ISA slots for DOS-friendly sound cards was the first thing that was dropped, when DOS was still somewhat relevant for gaming.

VESA graphics kept working for much longer, but it's not accelerated and at some point was castrated or broken too.
And getting any 3D acceleration of Radeon or GeForce cards.. forget about it.

Also you'd be limited to a single CPU core.
