I used to have a Surface Pro 4 with the i7, meaning it had the speedier Intel Iris 540 IGP with EDRAM. I played some D3D9 games on it and it seemed to do well enough considering its 15-25W power limit for everything. It is interesting to see them apparently abandoning all their previous work on D3D9 support .

I have the Iris Pro 580 on this NUC, it can handle quite a lot of advanced graphics including most Direct3D 9 (through this is through GalliumNine) games without much issue.

There's a particular shader test (the scene itself is called "refract") in glmark2 that runs at over 800 FPS on this IGPU.
