It's very early in 2024, and it is already looking like a bad year for anything retro

There's hope. Mirrors seem to exist (mentioned on the Hobbes site). Or they did exist, at least.

The internet archive has copies of the Hobbes CDs, too. Not sure how recent they're, though.

I just thought it might be good to know about the situation, so I mentioned the news.

Also, the archive shouldn't be that huge. OS/2 software was usually small and tidy.

PS: The situation reminds me a bit of the fate of winsite. It used to be a fine source for Windows 3.x/95 software.

"Please see https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/archive to retrieve an archive file of the site. Alternatively, FTP can be used to download any individual files."

Indeed, the link is dead. FTP'in the whole server over seems to be the only choice currently.. I don't have the kind of broadband that can do that and upload it back to archive, and I hope some other generous soul does it..

Link is wrong, it's missing an s. https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/archives <-
and it's 18G, currently going at <1M/s, 6h to go.

I just copypasted what was written on the site and indeed, "s" is missing there.

It seems like we have a lot of this type of thread lately - things going away, services discontinued, etc

Yes, things going away, services discontinued, etc... for the last 50 years or so...

Well thats why i have downloaded allmost all of Winworld stuff. And mutch of Old-DOSru. Just that those old goodies can perish forever, like tears in rain.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.
