I can't figure out how to set up dgVoodoo2 to play the first movie

The game works great, the color fix shows itself perfectly. But when i start the game, the screen is black and only music is playing, the video is not visible. I press Esc and immediately go to the main menu..

Please help, how to set up the dgVoodoo2 to see the first movie ?

Did you enable the GDI hook in the config file for dgVoodoo ?

No, was disabled by default. I enabled it like: true, but it didn't help, movie doesn't work

I improved GDI hooking a bit, so now it kinda works: there is one problem however, the movie image is not vertically centered but appears at the top. I don't know why but probably the MCI player detects that it's not drawing into a window, as expected, so it can't center the position. Or sg like that.

Are there any movies in this game other than the initial one? If there are, how can I play them for testing?

There is one more problem with dgVoodoo2, but with a different game, I will have to post a message in another topic or i can here?
This is Aliens versus Predator GOLD, when starting a mission or creating and run multiplayer, it throws it to the desktop without error
Without dgVoodoo2 this does not happen but the game has a graphical glitch, the right side of the screen is distorted
..I checked on windows 7x64

Doesn't work, I hear only sound as before, movie not visible, just black screen

Age of Empires II\age2_x1.exe
Without compatibility Windows XP sp3 on Windows 7x64 the 1st movie does not play, the game immediately launches the main menu
With compatibility Windows XP sp3 on Windows 7x64 the 1st movie show black screen with sound

I forgot: I checked it out on Win 7 and it worked. Still isn't working with 2.78 and GDI hooking enabled?

Sorry for this thread "revival". I don't find the rules or anything against it.

G-Stuff002 didn't answer to your last question, but I do.

Let me tell what I was doing.

I was "using" 2.79.3. I used just a couple of times (probably I installed for Tomb Raider 5 long ago), but I decided to give dgVoodoo 2 a try today for "Age of Empires 2".

"Out of the box" the game runs fine without anything else (and that covers the cinematics), except the ddraw registry hack to fix the 256 colors issue on Windows 7, but as I wanted to monitor the hardware through "RivaTuner Statistics Server" (RTSS) (because "Age of Empires 2" heats up the system without control 😉) and this one has the issue that doesn't like DirectDraw output, I thought about dgVooDoo2.

Ok, with dgVoodoo2 RTSS works. Awesome. but.... cinematics don't with dgVoodoo2 2.79.3.

Ok, I'm one of those that if it works, I don't update just to update, but as it was obvious it didn't work I updated to 2.83.1 (the latest to date).

Cinematics still doesn't work. Sound, but no video, just a black screen.

I disabled the watermak, just in case was redrawing the surface or whatever, and nothing; I closed RTSS too. No change.

And... I don't have anything conflicting open, I think. I mean, without the wrapper, cinematics works, with it, it doesn't. As simple as that :-?

I even, as read above, enabled Indeo 5 codec through ffdshow. It helped media players, but looks it didn't with dgVooDoo2.

I attach the config file, as I think it doesn't have any personal data (paths, basically), so you can tell me what I could change if it works for you.

P.S.: Anyway, I take the opportunity. One thing I want to congratulate you is that from 2.79.3 to 2.83.1, I don't know what did you change, but the graphic card usage changed from a 90% on the first to barely 30% on the later. Thank you so much for this. Really!! This on a weak NVS300 is a great improvement to keep temperatures and I guess power usage.
