Sorry for this thread "revival". I don't find the rules or anything against it.
G-Stuff002 didn't answer to your last question, but I do.
Let me tell what I was doing.
I was "using" 2.79.3. I used just a couple of times (probably I installed for Tomb Raider 5 long ago), but I decided to give dgVoodoo 2 a try today for "Age of Empires 2".
"Out of the box" the game runs fine without anything else (and that covers the cinematics), except the ddraw registry hack to fix the 256 colors issue on Windows 7, but as I wanted to monitor the hardware through "RivaTuner Statistics Server" (RTSS) (because "Age of Empires 2" heats up the system without control 😉) and this one has the issue that doesn't like DirectDraw output, I thought about dgVooDoo2.
Ok, with dgVoodoo2 RTSS works. Awesome. but.... cinematics don't with dgVoodoo2 2.79.3.
Ok, I'm one of those that if it works, I don't update just to update, but as it was obvious it didn't work I updated to 2.83.1 (the latest to date).
Cinematics still doesn't work. Sound, but no video, just a black screen.
I disabled the watermak, just in case was redrawing the surface or whatever, and nothing; I closed RTSS too. No change.
And... I don't have anything conflicting open, I think. I mean, without the wrapper, cinematics works, with it, it doesn't. As simple as that :-?
I even, as read above, enabled Indeo 5 codec through ffdshow. It helped media players, but looks it didn't with dgVooDoo2.
I attach the config file, as I think it doesn't have any personal data (paths, basically), so you can tell me what I could change if it works for you.
P.S.: Anyway, I take the opportunity. One thing I want to congratulate you is that from 2.79.3 to 2.83.1, I don't know what did you change, but the graphic card usage changed from a 90% on the first to barely 30% on the later. Thank you so much for this. Really!! This on a weak NVS300 is a great improvement to keep temperatures and I guess power usage.
