Hi. Since dgvoodoo2 is closed source, I am curious how it is permitted to use and share.
Particularly:
1) Can I re-package dgvoodoo2 (lets say, putting only ddraw and d3dimm dlls into a zip archive) and host it on another web service, but without letting people directly download it, and instead fetching it from that web-service using non-commercially and publicly distributed script that does stuff to make a game run on Linux? That's most likely not allowed, but if I can do that, do I need to put any copyright notices in that installer?
2) If I can't do what is described above, can I instead fetch dgvoodoo from the official website with the before mentioned script and use that archive to add DX11 support for the game? Again, if that's permitted, do I need to put any copyright notices in the description of the script that does this?

My general rules for that:
- dgVoodoo is freely redistributable as an unmodified package in its original form
- If someone liked to include only particular components of it in their own non-commercial (free) package then I only expect to (1) make me aware of that and (2) leave a short note in the package-readme about dgVoodoo usage and a link to its original host (dege.fw.hu)
- If someone is about to utilize dgVoodoo in their own commercial stuff then it's another topic, it must be discusses with me. 😀

Ok! So I have used a modified package with only conf file, ddraw and d3dimm, and put a fetching command of that package into the installer script. As you requested, I mentioned the usage of dgVoodoo and the link to your website.
The script (the project is purely non-commercial): https://lutris.net/games/the-sims/
Github page that hosts the package: https://github.com/tannisroot/dgvoodoo/releases
I hope this is ok.

Sorry for the necro, but I'd like to get permission to distribute dgVoodoo2 in a different way than stated above. I currently distribute the dgvoodoo2 zip with my application that extracts the files. Am I allowed to add the dgvoodoo2 zip as an embedded resource to my project to make it more dummy proof? I have dgvoodoo2 + the link to http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/ in my readme.
