While playing Barbie Horse Adventures Riding Camp (by Activision and Pixel Tales, 2008) with dgVoodoo 2.61 installed, the black screen problem occurs after starting a new game or loading a saved game. The interface elements (which are in 2D graphic formats) appear just fine, it's just that dgVoodoo can't handle the 3D graphics portion that well. I have the North American English release for my testing.

System Specs:
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 570 (MSI)
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5

Is there a demo for this game somewhere available?

I only have Barbie Horse Mystery Ride but that's a DX8 game and works.
Riding Camp must be DX9.

OP: The first step you should always try is running with a clean config (copy dgvoodoo.conf from the dgVoodoo zip to the game directory).

Barbie Horse Adventures Riding Camp is D3D9 and renders 3D fine:

Some effect is definitely missing though:
