So I've mentioned this before, but I'm retesting some titles for fun and this game has an annoying problem. It will only work at 640x480, mouse input is broken at higher resolutions (maybe because of resolution switching from 640x480 FMVs? I've tried skipping FMVs but it still doesn't work..). This is without AR correction, forced resolution or anything else.

This only happens with dgVoodoo, natively it's fine.

Obviously, resolution forcing works to make the game higher resolution, but it can't make the game widescreen (the game does support widescreen, but like all non-640x480 resolutions, it won't work with dgVoodoo).

No widescreen resolutions work (854x480,1280x720). Lower than 640x480 widescreen resolutions just crashes the game (which makes sense).

Neither does 642x480 or 640x482. There seems to be a hardcoded 640x480 resolution somewhere that's only affecting dgVoodoo...

Well I found the hardcoded value at least:

E0 01 00 00 C7 85 D8 FE FF FF 80 02 (nakatomi.rez)
80 02 00 00 BE E0 01 (1.04, nakatomi3.rez)

Just change that depending on which game version you have and...:

I didn't actually notice before that the game actually switched resolution, so this is probably just another one of those games switching resolution using non-DirectX methods.

And yes that image is stretched. I don't know why PCGW claims this game works in widescreen 😒 Claimed I guess since I edited the article.
