I can't reproduce movie crashes but you should try different compat modes (98, xp) because the game has heap overrun bug(s), probably that explains the random crashes.
The loading screen is also a game bug, if no pow2-textures are required on D3D side then the game code runs on an erroneous path (use the debug layer, it also reports an error), but I could patch that:

Now it doesn't crash anymore, it only happens when returning to the desktop. I also noticed that with this exe the game has fps drops, with the original exe it didn't happen. Can you modify this .exe? It's from the Italian version of the game, if I use the one you sent, the main menu starts in English.

Ok, I found the reasons of the "movie crash" (also present in the ENG version) and the "Alt-Tab crash". I fixed them too.
