You need to use the DEFAULT settings, not "other" settings. Copy dgvoodoo.conf to the game directory and dgVoodoo will use the default settings, which works with most games.
Other settings are unsafe, and may break stuff. Rainbow Six works fine. I suspect you set antialiasing/resolution/texture filtering to a setting the game does not like, or the resolution to a non-integer scale (stick with 2x/3x/4x, etc). Integer scales are unsafe too, but it's usually the better choice.
