I have an AMD k6-3-500mhz computer with 512mb ram and 500gb seagate 7200rpm hard-drive.
Appears to be working fine. When I try to install win98se the install begins but goes very very slow.
I never seen this happen before in a win98 install.

Any ideas what could be wrong ?

The DVD drive appears to be working okay and the hard-drive appears to be working okay to ?

Does anyone have an image of a system diagnostics program ?

Do you think there could be a problem with hard-drive connection or setting ?

Known issue with fast AMD processors.
There exists some patch for that. I am thinking of g..gle words like "amd k6 500mhz windows patch"...

The reason is that AMD processors were too fast so Windows' software programmed delays (great programming style btw 😢 ) finished too quickly.

Either try waiting out the slow install and then apply the patch, or throttle the board, install w. and patch it, and then go back to 500MHz.

Yes, I have that patch. Thanks for mentioning it. But it turns out the CDROM was not working well so a quick replacement fixed the problem.
Works fine now and I was able to complete the Win98se install. I thought the AMD k6 patch was only for Win95 ?
