Heyho!
While I ofc know that everything is available for free in the interwebz, I am wondering who is going the official route and if you got a few advices here.
While I had a lot of pirated software back in the 80s and 90s, nowadays I try to use official software and licenses whenever possible. For youtube videos I am also checking with each publisher/developer before doing any videos (some do actually not allow it, making it illegal). That is - when it's still somewhat clear who is actually holding the rights these days.
And because I might also use the old PC in some commercial aspect at some point it would be even more important for me to be "clean" here.
Right now I am basically looking for 3 pieces of Software: Dos 6.22, Norton Commander 5.0 and Windows 98 SE.
And it seems like neither is officially sold anymore, and ebay prices are pretty insane. The most available is actually Windows 98 SE, where you pay 20€ for a key only and around 40€ for an OEM Key with CD. I haven't even seen a full box.
DOS is even rarer, and Norton Commander...well, let's say that atm there is just one auction for 135€.
I am actually collecting Big Boxes for a bit now, and I didn't expect software to be that hard to come by.
Where do you get official software from? Is there mabye still some stores selling the stuff? Or did MS or Norton even make their old Software available for free at some point?
