I have AMD Athlon XP 1600+ and MS-DOS games in Windows 98 runs too fast. I can't play Quake 1 because it's too fast. I have this problem in Half-Life 1 too. How to fix it? Should i use my laptop with Pentium 3 800 for MS-DOS games?

EDIT:

I have the same problem on laptop. Quake 1 runs too fast.

You fix it by

a. use WinQuake
b. boot into MS-DOS and play DOS Quake from there

Laptops throttle their CPU so they will have some adverse speed alterations in some games that poll the CPU first i.e. every UnrealEngine1 game

I fix it with sv_maxspeed in console.
