I'm running a P3 450 on a Tekram P6Bx-An (i440Bx) with a ISA SB16 CT4170 using DOS 7.10.

I'm not sure if its this version of DOS that's making it difficult, but all other games work great sound wise with MIDI as well. The only other game I have issues with is Chasm. I'm curious if the problems are related. If anyone has any suggestions I'd really be thankful!

I can't run the installer for the SB16 driver as I get an error, so I just copied the folders and files from my PCem machine which runs 6.22.

My Autoexec:

SET SOUND=C:\SYSBOOT\SB16
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 H5 P330 T6
SET MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E
C:\SYSBOOT\SB16\DIAGNOSE /S
C:\SYSBOOT\SB16\MIXERSET /P /Q

I hope it's 1.01-1.06. 1.07-8 messed with the sound initializing code a bit (and aren't available as shareware)

I'd try to correct the BLASTER variable first.

You can try Quake with the -dsp parameter (2, 3 and 4) and see if you have any luck initializing with those if that doesn't work.

Hmm I'll try some earlier versions. Would that sound initializing issue affect the patched full version as well?

Thanks for the help Leileilol, -dsp 2 did the trick. I wonder about Chasm now. 😕

Chasm reads from the BLASTER setting, yet it doesn't work. Stupid game. 🙁
