Dr. Hardware Sysinfo (DOS) - Versions Archive

Getting old software/games running on older hardware.

Dr. Hardware Sysinfo (DOS) - Versions Archive

Postby derSammler » 2017-12-25 @ 11:32

I've probably mentioned a few times before that Dr. Hardware is my favorite, and in my opinion best hardware info/benchmark tool for DOS. Unfortunately, old versions are virtually impossible to find these days. With some luck, you'll find 9.0e, but that's it. So I put all the versions online that I collected over the years, ranging from 1997 to 2007.

Here's the URL to the archive: http://retro-net.de/drhard/

Note that "e" in the file name stands for English, "d" for German. If someone can provide additional versions, please get in contact.

Thanks, but that version is registered/cracked. Also, files are missing (BENCHCMP.DAT).

What is the status of this software? Are you allowed to host it, is it shareware etc?

@Tronix: link to cracked software removed - please don't post that on Vogons

Yes, it's shareware. I'm only hosting shareware versions.

Is there a version that is best for specific systems? Is there any reason not to choose the latest version on any DOS system, no matter how old?

No, I mostly use 9.0 as well, as it's more stable when detecting hardware. Older versions however are somewhat better when it comes to benchmarking, as they compare with systems of the time. 9.0 e.g. compares system speed against a PIII 667 Mhz, which is quite pointless on a 286. And for video benchmark, 8-bit VGA was removed and AGP added in later versions. But these are only cosmetical things and not related to the actual results.

Awesome. I used to use that way back in the day. Just posting in here so it saves it to my threads list.
